Sandra Bottinelli has been evolving as an artist for almost 30 years experiencing an evolution in her work as her thought process is ongoing and she is constantly experimenting and learning. She has a passion for combining traditional oil techniques with modern subjects within the dichotomy of Abstract Realism. This approach leaves the observer without clear interpretations for what’s happening in her work, thus, you feel Sandra’s work before you understand it.
As Sandra paints, she intuitively follows where inspiration and ideas lead, letting pieces unfold without resistance or egoic desire. This pure exploration leaves the observer ample space in the unexpected terrain, to find their own meaning and experience within her art. What you discover is more about yourself than a statement.
Bottinelli received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Michigan in 1995. Her appreciation of multicultural approaches and lens called her to Salamanca and Barcelona, Spain for continued studies. Prior to co-founding Modern Muse Gallery, she was a 10 year resident artist at Wedge Studios in Asheville’s River Arts District.
